- Eleven Thought Provoking Questions
- and their Answers...
- Questions 1 to 6 are for Muslims
to read carefully and reflect
- Questions 7 to 11 are for
Christians to read carefully and reflect
- Question No. 1:
- What
are the most important expected events that are supposed to happen upon the RETURN
- OF JESUS (Isa' a.s.)
from the Heaven, according to the age old Traditional Muslim Beliefs?
-
- Answer No. 1:
- Below are some excerpts from an eight
page article 'IS JESUS COMING?' that
appeared
- in 'Al-Jumuah Magazine' of
Ramadhan 1420 H. This articles gives an insight into some of
- the age old traditional beliefs that are
prevalent today. The magazine is published
- simultaneously from Madison, USA; London, UK
and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia by
- Al-Muntada Al-Islami. The high-lighting of a
few noteworthy
passages is done by me.
- The opening sentence reads:
- "Prophet Eesa, alayhes
salam, will descend at a time when the Muslims are experiencing the greatest
hardships. He will come to their help and make the religion of Allah prevail
on Earth."
- The above high-lighted texts read:
- "At that time,
the only two options for humanity will be to embrace Islam or die."
- "This symbolic gesture
from Eesa to let the Imam lead the salah will show that he follows the
Islamic Shari'ah."
- After killing the Dajjal....
"He will abolish all practices that do not
conform to the Shari'ah"
- "Eesa will fight
the disbelievers and abolish all other religions until everyone worships
Allah."
-
-
- Question No. 2:
-
Does the Qur'an uphold or support - directly or indirectly - the above
narrated
- traditional beliefs that are associated
with the RETURN OF JESUS from the Heaven?
-
- Answer No. 2:
- The answer is NO.
- The Qur'an does not prophesize or uphold the above narrated acts of Jesus.
- The Qur'an which has practically every article of Islamic faith is totally SILENT on the issue
- of the DISSENSION OF JESUS. The name of Dajjal mentioned within the
narrations does not
- appear in the Qur'an. It is most
unlikely that the Qur'an (Kitaab-e-Mubeen), which makes
- things clear to mankind for
all times until the Day of Judgment, could have remained
- completely silent if every Believing
Muslim was expected to have faith in the
- Reappearance of Jesus and in the EVENTS
associated with his arrival from the Heaven.
-
- Question No. 3:
- Did the earlier books on Islam by Imam
Malik and others, record the
RETURN OF JESUS?
-
- Answer No. 3:
- The answer is NO.
- Here is excerpt from the website of
'Renaissance - A Monthly Islamic Journal' published
- The first Book of Hadith, the
Mu`atta of Imam Malik contains nothing on this topic. This again
is very strange. A person who is writing his book in Madinah about a
hundred years after the death of the Prophet (sws) has nothing to report on
this issue, while some of the books of Hadith compiled much later
mention this event.
" 'The Muwatta', a title
given by Malik himself,[2] is one of the
earliest formulation of Islamic law as well as being one the earliest
collection of hadiths." Source: [2] M. M. Azami, Studies In
Early Hadith Literature, 1992, American Trust Publications (Indianapolis),
pp. 298-299.

Note: Not withstanding the
nomenclature or the title, this book is an early collection of
fiqh cum hadiths.
I have been informed by <islamic-awareness.org>
that the earlier Islamic Composition - the Sahifa of Hamman bin
Munabbih also does not have the traditions
for the RETURN OF ISA' (a.s.).
Question No. 4:
Is there a verse of the Qur'an that
plainly or visibly NEGATES the
happening of the
above narrated events associated with
the RETURN OF JESUS?
Answer No. 4:
The answer is YES.
Here is the text of the verse
3 : 55 of the Qur'an:
- "...
and I will make those who follow thee [Jesus] superior to those who
reject Faith,
- to the Day of
Resurrection; then shall ye
all return unto Me and I will judge
-
between you of the matters wherein ye dispute.
- Surah Al-i-Imran (3), Verse
55. Translation by Yusuf Ali.
-
- " ...
and [I] am setting those who follow thee [Jesus] above those who
disbelieve,
- until the Day
of Resurrection. Then
unto Me ye will (all) return, and I shall judge
- between
you as to that wherein ye used to differ.
Verse 3:55.
Translation by M. M. Pickthall.
The above quoted
verse clearly REVEALS that
until the Day of Resurrection
there will be
upon this earth
"the followers of Jesus" as well as "the Rejecters".
And, the former will be superior to the later.
In other words, the QUR'AN REVEALS to us that
THE REJECTERS will ALSO survive
on this earth until the DAY OF RESURRECTION.
The above
verse indisputably NEGATES the age old
traditional beliefs that Jesus (s.a.s.)
upon his return to this earth from heaven will abolish
all practices that do not conform (Islamic) Shari'ah and also
fight the disbelievers and abolish all other religions
until everyone worships Allah .
In brief the
alleged ESSENTIAL PURPOSE FOR THE RETURN OF JESUS IS NEGATED BY THE QUR'AN.
- SINCE, the Qur'an Reveals that the
DISBELIEVERS WILL REMAIN ON THIS EARTH until the Day of Resurrection, to
have our Faith (Imaan) upon the Narrations that
do claim that the FALSEHOOD and the REJECTION WILL BE ABOLISHED by Jesus is
to
REJECT THE ABOVE REVEALED
TEXT.
-
-
This verse 3: 55 also clarifies the two
important verses viz., 4: 158 and 159 concerning Jesus.
-
-
A. The Verse 158 speaks
of the Exaltation of Jesus in Honour and Status.
-
B. The Verse 159 speaks of the
Death of the follower of Jesus ("his"), and not
that of Jesus.
-
- Below are the translation of the
above verses by Dr. Muhammad Asad
-
- "Nay,
God exalted him unto Himself - and God is indeed almighty wise."
4: 158
-
- Commentary Number
172 to the above verse by Dr. Muhammad Asad:
Cf. 3:55, where God says to Jesus, "Verily, I shall cause thee to die,
and shall exalt thee unto Me." The verb rafa'ahu (lit., "he raised him"
or "elevated him") has always, whenever the act of raf' ("elevating") of
human being is attributed to God, the meaning of "honouring" or
"exalting". Nowhere in the Qur’an is there any warrant for the popular
belief that God has "taken up" Jesus bodily, in his lifetime, into
heaven. The expression "God exalted him unto Himself" in the above verse
denotes the elevation of Jesus to the realm of God's special grace - a
blessing in which all prophets partake, as it is evident from 19:57,
where the verb rafa'nahu ("We exalted him") is used with regard to the
Prophet Idris. (See also Muhammad Abduh in Manar III, 316f., and VI,
20f. ) The "nay" (bal) at the beginning of the sentence is meant to
stress the contrast between belief of the Jew that they had put Jesus to
a shameful death on the cross and the fact of God's having "exalted him
unto Himself."
-
- Commentary Number
662 by Abdullah Yusuf Ali: (unrevised edition)
- The same word rafa’a is
used in association with honour in connection with [Muhammad] Mustafa in
94. 4.
- "Yet there is not
one of the followers of earlier revelation who does not,
- at the moment of his
death, grasp the truth about Jesus, and on the Day of Resurrection he
[himself] shall bear witness to the truth against them."
- Verse 4:159, Translation by Dr. Muhammad Asad.
-
- Question No. 5:
- Does the verse 43: 61 of the Qur'an
reveals the "Coming of Jesus at the End Time"?
-
- Answer No. 5:
- The answer is
No.
- Translator
Abdullah Yusuf Ali had inserted the name of Jesus, within the brackets,
in his English translation of the verse number 43: 61. Since Allah (s.w.t.)
had not revealed that name,
-
it does not appear in the Arabic text which is reproduced below:
-
-
-
Abdullah Yusuf Ali's translation for verse number 43: 61 reads:
-
"And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming
of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore
-
have no doubt about the (Hour) but follow ye
Me: this is a Straight Way."
-
- Moreover,
Abdullah
Yusuf Ali has mistranslated the Arabic word
I’lm. Literally, this Arabic word
normally translates “knowledge”. Instead, we find the word
“Sign” in Yusuf Ali's
translation.
-
- In
his commentary to the above verse Yusuf Ali records:
- "...he
(Jesus)
he will destroy the
false doctrines that pass under his name,
-
and prepare the way for the
universal acceptance of Islam,"
-
-
The Verse 3: 55 of the Qur'an, quoted hereto above, categorically rejects
the above comment and reveals that the Rejecters will also live along with the
Believers, until the Day of Resurrection.
-
Please note, the preceding verse number 43: 60 is related to the
“angels” and not with Jesus.
- وَلَوْ نَشَاء لَجَعَلْنَا
مِنكُم مَّلَائِكَةً فِي الْأَرْضِ يَخْلُفُونَ
{60}
"And if it were Our Will We could make angels from
amongst you succeeding each other on the earth." Translation by
Abdullah Yusuf Ali.
-
-
Under the circumstances, the insertion of name “JESUS”
in the subsequent verse number
61 by Yusuf Ali or
by any other translator lacks the needed support from the Qur'an. It is a
Conjecture.
-
The following translation of
verse 61
done by Dr. Muhammad Asad has a much better appeal in view of the fact that
there are several verses in the Qur'an that speak of the LAST HOUR:
-
-
"And, Behold, this (divine writ) is indeed a means to know (that) the Last
Hour (is bound to come); hence, have no doubt whatever about it, but follow
Me: this (alone) is the straight way."
-
-
The Commentary Number 41 by Dr.
Muhammad Asad to the above verse reads:
-
Whereas most of the commentators regard the
pronoun hu in innahu as relating to Jesus and, consequently,
interpret the above phrase as "he is indeed a means to know [i.e., an
indication of the coming of] the Last Hour", some authorities - e.g.,
Qatadah, Al-Hasan Al-Basri and Said ibn Jubayr (all of them quoted by
Tabari, Badhawi and Ibn Kathir) - relate the pronoun to the Quran, and
understand the phrase in the sense adopted in my rendering. The specific
mention of the Last Hour in the above context is meant to stress man's
ultimate responsibility before the Creator and, therefore, the fact that
worship is due to Him alone: and so this parenthetic passage follows
logically upon the mention of the false deification of Jesus.
-
-
It is worth noting that the translator Yusuf Ali
belonged to the community of the Mustealiyyan Shiah Ismaili Muslim (commonly known as the Bohras). The last Imam of the Bohras had gone into an extended
occultation and the followers have been anxiously waiting for nearly a
thousand years for their last Imam’s “RETURN from the Heaven” as a MAHDI, just as the
extra zealous followers of the Christ are waiting for the
RETURN of their SAVIOUR from the Heaven.
-
Note: The I'lm, meaning the knowledge of what
will transpire at the LAST HOUR is indicated within the Qur'an.
- But, the prescribed time for those
occurrences is known to Allah Alone and He has given no indication thereof.
Two verses quoted below reveal that they will happen SUDDENLY (lit., nothing
but suddenly - without a warning).
-
- Besides, Yusuf Ali - half a dozen or more translators -
have also added the name of Jesus (within and without the brackets) as being
the "Sign" for the "Last Hour"; "Hour of the Doom" or "Hour of the
Resurrection" in verse 43: 61. Do these translations validate the insertion of name Jesus as
the "Sign" for the Last Hour?
- The answer is NO.
There will be NO "Sign" or "Warning" for the coming of the Last Hour.
-
- Just Five Verses later in verse
43: 66, Allah (SWT) Reveals (as if to NEGATE the above conjecture):
- Do they only wait for the Hour that it
should come on them all
of a sudden while they perceive not?
-
- To claim Jesus will be the "SIGN" (a
kind of forewarning)
for the coming of the "HOUR" is to
-
propagate opposite of what the above quoted verse 43: 66 is telling us to
believe.
-
- Furthermore, in verse number 7: 187 (the
text quoted below), the Qur'an
Reveals one more time that the coming of the LAST HOUR will be SUDDEN:
-
- They ask thee
about the (final) hour when will be its appointed time? Say: "The knowledge
thereof is with my Lord (alone): none but He can reveal as to when it will
occur. Heavy were its burden through the heavens and the earth.
Only all of a sudden will
it come to you.
- Every believing Muslim recites the phrase "ALLAH HAS SPOKEN THE
TRUTH"
- after reciting the verse(s) of the Qur'an in
Arabic.
- IN OTHER WORDS NOTHING SHOULD PERSUADE THE BELIEVER TO ACCEPT ANYTHING
CONTRADICTORY TO WHAT ALLAH (swt) HAS HIMSELF REVEALED.
-
-
In light of the revealed text of verse 3: 55, the NARRATIONS
reproduced earlier
would fall within the category of
- MAUDU*
*
meaning; FABRICATED - FORGED
(Narrations).
- IT IS A FALLACY TO CALL THEM
"THE HADEETHS"
- These are NOT
"The Sayings of the PROPHET" p.b.u.h.
- ALLAH'S MESSENGER COULD NEVER EVER
CONTRADICT
- THE TEXT THAT WAS REVEALED THROUGH HIM BY
ALLAH (S.W.T.)
- By REJECTING THESE FORGED NARRATIONS
- One does NOT become THE REJECTER OF THE
HADEETHS,
-
- By UPHOLDING THESE FORGED NARRATIONS
- One DOES become THE
REJECTER OF THE QUR'AN.
-
- "Say: Allah's Guidance
is the (only) guidance, and we have been directed to submit ourselves to the
Lord of the worlds." "Whoever holds firmly to Allah will be shown a
way that is straight." Glorious
Qur'an 6: 71 and 3: 101
- for further details and
in-depth study on this critical subject
read the book
- 'Rediscovering the
Realities of Jesus' Details on this website.
-
-
Unless revealed by Allah (swt), the Prophet (sas) had no knowledge of the
unseen.
- Say: "The
Unseen is only for Allah (to know). Then wait ye: I too will wait with you."
Glorious Qur'an 10 : 20.
Upon closer examination, it is noticed that the chains of the Narrators for
the majority of the Narrations reproduced above, END with the Prophet.
- In other words these are NOT the
Qudsi Hadiths wherein the final chain goes beyond the Prophet and ends
with Allah (swt). One cannot overlook THIS CRUCIAL FACT while
reading these Futuristic Narrations, after having learnt;
"The
Unseen is only for Allah (to know)."

- ----- o O o ----
- Questions 1 to 6 are for Muslims
to read carefully and reflect
- Questions 7 to 11 are for
Christians to read carefully and reflect
-
- Question No. 7:
- Does the unedited ORIGINAL texts of the Four
Gospels have the story of the
- 'Physical Ascension of Jesus'?
-
- Answer No. 7:
- The answer is
NO.
- The fifth century handwritten
copy of the New Testament - Codex Sinaiticus, safeguarded by the
monks of the St. Catherine's Monastery on the foot of Mount Sinai in Egypt and
discovered in 1862 by Dr. Constantine von Tischendorf (1815-1874) does not have
the story of the Physical Ascension of Jesus to Heaven within the
ORIGINAL GOSPEL TEXTS. In other words the STORIES were added
sometime after the fourth century. Similarly, the story is also missing
within Codex Syriacus.
-
- The
writings of the early Christian theologians and biblical exegetes like
Clement of Alexandria (d. 215 CE) and Origen (d. 254 CE) do not have the
story of the Physical Ascension of Jesus to Heaven.
-
- For complete
details read the book 'Rediscovering the Realities of Jesus'
by the webmaster.
Jesus met his disciples,
days after the 'Day of his Ascension'.
- Question No. 8:
- Did Jesus meet his disciples during
the period when he was supposed to be sitting in the Heaven?
-
- Answer No. 8:
- The answer is
YES.
- The Gnostic Gospel written by
Apostle James -
the Brother of Jesus and now recovered in 1945 from the Nag Hammadi in Egypt confirms
that Jesus met his disciples "five hundred and fifty days" after
his supposed Resurrection. For further details read the books; 'Beyond Belief'
by Elaine Pagels, 'The Hag Hammadi Library' by Dr. James M.
Robinson and 'Rediscovering the Realities of Jesus' by
Akbarally Meherally.
-
- Question No. 9:
- Does the Old Testament have a Prophecy that
confirms that God had pre-planned to prolong the life of Jesus after the ordeal
(after he was bruised by his enemies) and he was to see his offspring?
-
- Answer No. 9:
- The answer is
YES.
- Here is the text from the Old
Testament that Jews and Christians read today:
- "But the Lord was pleased to bruise him, putting him to grief;
if he would render himself as a guilt offering, he will see his
offspring. He (God) will prolong his days, and the good pleasure of the
Lord will prosper in his hand."
- The Book of Isaiah 53: 10.
Please read the entire chapter 53 to appreciate this Prophecy.
-
- In verse 7: 157, the Qur'an
Reveals the foretelling of the coming of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.s.)
within the earlier books. Often the oracles from the Book of Isaiah
foretold by Prophet Isaiah are quoted by the Muslim scholars, besides
the other passages, to uphold that Revealed Truth.
-
- Here the same Prophet Isaiah
had foretold in the same Book of Isaiah, what was to happen centuries later to
Prophet Isa' (a.s.). The Prophecies by Isaiah for BOTH the Prophets - Jesus and
Muhammad, foretold centuries before their births, have come true.
-
- Question No. 10:
- Did Jesus himself speak of the
Prophecy
concerning him in the earlier scripture?
-
- Answer No. 10:
- The answer is
YES.
- Here is the text from Luke's Gospel:
-
"For I say unto you, that this that is written must
yet be accomplished in me, 'and he was reckoned among the
transgressors'; for the things concerning me have an end." ...
Then he said to them. "Oh, how
foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the
prophets have declared! Was it not necessary that the Messiah (Christ)
should suffer these things and then enter into his glory?" Gospel of Luke 22:
37 and 24: 25-26.
-
- Note: The issue here is of
entering into "his glory" after the suffering. God eternally rewarded
Jesus after he had suffered at the hands of his enemies. Jews wanted to
prove Jesus - the son of Mary, was a false Messiah but he became
eternally glorified as the God's Anointed MESSENGER.
-
- Question No. 11:
- Did Jesus have a son?
-
- Answer No. 11:
- The answer is
YES.
- Here is the text from The Gospel
written by the early apostle Phillips, discovered in 1945 from Nag Hammadi in Egypt.
- "There is the Son of man and there is the son of
the Son of man. The Lord is the Son of man, and the son of the Son of
man is he who is created through the Son of man. ...He also has the
ability to beget." Nag Hammadi
Library, English pg. 148.
-
- .
- The above quoted texts from the Christian
Documents should be of no surprise for a Believing Muslim who has read
the verses of the Qur'an. Rather, should strengthen his/her faith in the
Divine Signs Revealed to Muhammad (s.a.s.).
-
- Please read the following verse of
the Qur'an carefully and Reflect.
- "And verily
We sent messengers (to mankind) before thee, and We appointed for them
wives and offspring,
and it was not (given) to any messenger that he should bring a portent
save by Allah's leave. For everything there is a time prescribed.
Glorious Qur'an 13 :38.
-
- The Qur'an does not tell us
that
Prophet Jesus was an exception to the above Revelation.
- Today, we know from the unearthed
Christian documents that it was a false
presumption on our part. The prescribed time for
the DISCOVERY of the true
knowledge for the "Historical Jesus" had not come during the earlier
generations. The time prescribed to prove
the GLORY of the Qur'an has now come before this generation. With the
recent discoveries of the
Ancient Christian Documents, created by the Earlier Disciples and
Relatives of Jesus in
the first two centuries, we can DECLARE the TRUTH. Please visit
the Public Libraries and read the
Gospels discovered from
Nag Hammadi.
-
- The Qur'an EXHORTS the reading of
the earlier texts:
-
- "And if thou art in doubt
concerning that which We reveal unto thee, then question those
- who read
the Scripture (that was) before thee. Verily the Truth from thy Lord
hath come unto thee. So be not thou
of the waverers. And be not thou of those who deny the revelations of
Allah, for then wert thou of the losers. Lo! those for whom the word of
thy Lord hath effect will not believe, though every token come unto
them, till they see the painful doom."
-
Qur'an 10 : 94 to 97 Translation by Pickthall.
-
- The examined Christian Documents uphold the Qur'anic Verse 5: 110:
- Then will Allah say: "O Jesus the son of
Mary! recount my favor to thee and
to thy mother. Behold! I strengthened thee with the holy spirit so that
thou
didst speak to the people in
childhood and in maturity."
-
- Note 1: The
Qur'an confirms that the Physical Maturity comes at the age of FORTY. See 46: 15. Jesus (Isa' a.s.) was only 33 or 34 years old,
when he was tried by the Roman Governor.
- This supports the concept that the
life of Jesus had been prolonged and he died in maturity.
-
- Note 2: The
speaking of Jesus in the CHILDHOOD and in MATURITY has a common verb
which is in the PAST TENSE. To claim that the first act of
speaking in the Childhood was during the past life of Jesus on this
earth but the second act of speaking
in the Maturity will be after his RETURN FROM THE HEAVEN is to SPLIT A
COMMON VERB INTO TWO DIFFERENT TENSES (Past tense and Future tense).
- This is a futile attempt by
some to CHANGE THE ESSENCE
OF THE REVEALED TEXT and its GRAMMAR...
-
- Note 3: There is
not a single support for the
RETURN OF JESUS
FROM HEAVEN within the Revealed Text of "THE QUR'AN".
Similarly, there are no verses for the PHYSICAL ASCENSION OF JESUS TO
THE HEAVEN within the Unedited Text of the "FOUR CANONICAL
GOSPELS" written by the Church recognized "FOUR APOSTLES".
-
- Note 4:
The verse 3: 55 of the Qur'an reads:
Lo! God Said: "O Jesus! Verily, I shall cause
thee to die, and shall exalt thee
(mutawaffe-ka
wa-raafi'u-ka), unto Me and cleanse thee of those who are bent upon
denying the truth."
The SEQUENCE of the above Revelation is
crucial. The first action is "cause thee to die" and thereafter comes the
action "shall exalt thee". Those who take
the liberty of
changing this DIVINE SEQUENCE, have misguided themselves and the others.
-
- THESE ARE THE FACTS CONCERNING
THE LAST DAYS OF JESUS.
- ALLAH ALONE KNOWS THE TRUTH.
- Be the Upholders of the Qur'an...
- "Nor be of those
who reject the Signs of Allah,
- or thou shalt be
of those who perish." 10: 95
